As the Age starts hotting up, we have two big wars to report on, along with server updates aimed at improving performance (especially at war start). And of course, we finish with Christmas and New Year wishes for all our players!

Holiday Hitmen (1:4) vs Get Your War Here (1:2)

The war opened with 1:4 sending a Diamond Dragon and executing fairly standard double taps across the attackers in 1:2. Meanwhile, 1:2 — clearly chomping at the bit with bloodTHIRST — launched an aggressive attempt to chain the Orc Budweiser, pushing through some heavy defiance.

The dragon exchange was fairly even for the first 12 hours. However, 1:4 were able to afford two full Diamond Dragons before reverting to Mysteries, while 1:2 had to switch to Mystery Dragons much earlier and even endured a full six-hour stretch with no dragon flying against their opposition.

The second wave was where the war really began to turn. 1:4 opened by slaying the enemy dragon and sending a Crystal Dragon of their own. Strong Orc gains combined with 1:4’s semi-chain tactics ensured they gained an early and firm grip on the war charts.

That’s not to say 1:2 went quietly — they piled on multiple quad hits against the unfortunate Orc Budweiser. However, while his gains and offence were clearly the primary threat, 1:2 ultimately took the bait, allowing the rest of 1:4’s attackers to remain largely untouched and achieve maximum gains over the next 24 hours.

The 1:4 Monarch said after the battle: “It was an unexpected war challenge, but I’m really proud of how we fought. Everyone performed their role to the fullest, but MVP has to go to our Orc. Receiving 52 of the 80 total hits, he cleared the way for us to execute our strategy.”

The 1:2 Monarch responded: “We had three T/Ms and five attackers that didn’t match up well against the enemy. For a few of us, the job became reset, regrow, and hope not to repeat. Our total hit count was similar, but while they were hitting everyone, most of our hits were focused on their Orc.”

Wacky’s Workshop (5:1) vs The Alphabet (3:1)

In this heavy-hitting war, both kingdoms opened by sending Diamond Dragons, with a few early hits pushing through regardless. 3:1 managed to bribe theirs, but 5:1 were able to slay the dragon without too many hits being affected.

Once again, both kingdoms opened with fairly standard double taps across their hitters. The first wave wasn’t decisive, with 3:1 looking set to establish a sizeable bank advantage. However, 5:1’s T/Ms had other ideas, applying strong pressure to the bank early on.

3:1 had troops returning first for wave two and began chaining the Goblin and Orc. This phase was well organised on both sides, with timely and effective semi-chains traded back and forth. Two active kingdoms with solid tactics battled it out over the next 24 hours.

Ultimately, though, 5:1’s tactics proved stronger. Whether it was forum pressure or sustained pressure on their bank, 3:1 eventually pressed the surrender button at minimum time.

The 5:1 Monarch told us: “3:1 was a super active and very tough kingdom. That Dark Elf and Dwarf Champion were speedy and tanky, and the Elf bank was extremely hard to neutralise.”

Sadly, The Alphabet (3:1) declined to comment. Hopefully they can regroup and find more success in their upcoming war later today — we’ll no doubt bring you news of that next week!

Server Updates

We’ve tweaked server settings upwards to improve response times, particularly at war start and other busy periods. We’re also rewriting how database requests are handled, with further improvements planned for rollout next Age.

This new approach will also improve the server marketplace, including fixing the issue where players currently have to navigate to a new page to refresh the market once a bid has finished.

Holiday Messages

Finally, we’d like to wish you all a festive and fun holiday season, wherever you are. We hope you get to enjoy plenty of family time — and of course, some Mythea time too!
